WELCOME! My name is Jane Azure and I am employed with the U.S. Government, Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs. What a mouthful! I work at the Cheyenne River Agency Education Office, which is located in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, which is on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation. I am the Special Education Coordinator and serve the following (4) schools: Takini, Tiospaye Topa, Pierre Indian Learning Center and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte. My main responsibility is to ensure that all students with disabilities receive an appropriate education in the least restrictive environment and that the schools and staff adhere to the regulations of the Individual with Disabilities Act of 1997. I really enjoy my work, which at times is very challenging.
I am married to Sam Azure, who is the Elementary Principal at Theodore Jamerson School, located on the campus of United Tribes Technical College, which is in Bismarck, North Dakota. We have one daughter, Brittany, age 10. We also have two other children from Sam's previous marriage, Tahnee Fenton, age 29 and Sam Jr., age 27. We also have one dog, Gizmo who is just like one of the kids. After serving in Desert Storm, Tahnee married and is now living and working in Washington state. Sam Jr. works for the State Prison system in St. Cloud, Minnesota I graduated from Minot State University in 1976 with a BS degree in both Elementary Education and Special Education. I received my Master's Degree from Northern State University in 1985 in Elementary Education Administration.
My personal interests are watching movies and reading suspense novels. My greatest joy is spending time with my daughter, Brittany who is the light of my life. She has taught me so much! She is just beginning to play sports and I enjoy going to all of her events. I live in Eagle Butte during the week and travel north to Bismarck every weekend, which is about a 3 hour drive, so I don't get to see them every day. Brittany spends her summers in Eagle Butte where she enjoys seeing all of her SD friends.
